A note found in the organ stated:

"This organ was bequeathed by the family of George Bennard to the family of the Rev. Harold Reeves now residing in Winston Salem, NC. George Bennard composed the hymn The Old Rugged Cross in 1913 and the first time this hymn was played on an organ it was on this specific instrument."
